1984. Big boom-box radios. Reagan won re-election in a landslide the media today still spin wasn’t that much, in the wake of the Iran-Contra affair. Michael Jackson cleaned up in the Grammys and American Music Awards with ThrillerGhostbusters was on its way to being the biggest movie hit of that summer, ending its run having grossed $300 million. Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” was zooming up the American Top 40 charts, Apple’s “!984″ commercial during Super Bowl XVIII put the computer giant on the lips and desktops of the American landscape . . . and I, a senior in Page High School, eighteen and in love with a Tucson, AZ boy, decked in leg-warmers or my Levis rolled in 1950s style the way girls dressed then, watched network news broadcast Donald J.
